Now that I can mark the bathroom off my list, I am thinking my next project might be the mudroom in the basement. We really need a place to hang coats and jackets, since closet space is minimal in this house. Here are some of my inspiration photos:
Aren’t they gorgeous! I don’t think I want to build individual lockers. They would not really serve a purpose for us. Also, instead of cubbys for the bench, I would rather have a hinged lid.
While we’re at it, I would also like to build a small broom closet. I’m thinking of something along these lines–maybe a little larger, though:

I also want to paint the walls. I’m leaning toward Behr’s Swiss Coffee, which is our cabinet/trim color.
Anyway, lots to be done.
In other news, the cabinet latch for the bathroom cabinet finally arrived from Restoration Hardware!

Sometimes I have to remind myself of the fact that those little things DO make an impact because they can get kind of pricey. And I’m generally looking at them toward the end of the project when my budget is pretty much gone 🙂

Thanks, Kristen. Yes, they do add up. I’m glad I did read the reviews on the cabinet latches. There are some on the market that apparently don’t hold up very long. The Restoration Hardware latch had good reviews, so we shall see.
Never underestimate the importance of having a mud room! A place to dump coats and boots and umbrellas really frees up clutter space in the rest of the house … this old place of ours doesn’t have one, and I really miss it. Your inspiration photos have given me an idea. The basement hall is really wide … and it’s right off the garage … hmmmmmm. Thanks for the ideas, and good luck with yours. Of course, whatever you decide will be wonderful.
Our soon-to-be mudroom is right off the garage, as well, and is a dumping ground for all kinds of clutter. Glad you got some ideas. I’m anxious to see what you come up with.

I LOVE the second one with the dutch door. The corner spot for the plant, the fact that it isn’t locker style, the dutch door and the colors! The window seat we’re working on for our double desk is going to be a hinged top – we’re doing it plan-less so hopefully it works out!
And the bracket does look great in your bathroom.
